Read This If You Are Getting E71 And E79 After Flashing Freeboot V.032, related to nand bad block reads on the original nand dump
- Follow the readme file that comes with freeboot v.032.
- When you get to the step that refers to copy smc.bin to the data dir, you will need to do the following:
1. You will need to flash XBR3 to your xbox, inject your KV and config. Boot up to XBR3 to make sure everything is done right. Boot to xell and grab CPU key.
2. Take a dump of the XBR3 from the NAND either through flash360 or nandpro via USB: or LTP: Don't short cut this step. You can't simply just inject your kv.bin and config.bin into xbr_8955_V3.bin image. You have to read it from you nand. Don't ask me why.
3. Use 360 Flashtool , select keys and enter in our CPU key and ensure that CPU and 1BL checkbox is checked
4. Click Ok, and open up your original NAND dump and click on extract. Place the files into a temp directory.
5. Go to the temporary directory and rename smc_dec.bin to smc.bin and place this file into the freeboot v.032data directory . THIS IS THE SMC YOU WANT TO USE.
6. proceed w/ the rest of the steps from the freeboot readme
7. Before you flash your newly built image.bin, you will need to take care of the bad blocks.
8. Open up the original nand dump with bad block reads with Degraded.
9. Proceed to manually map the bad blocks on image.bin
for example, if degraded says
bad block: 3A3 found in 3FF
Do this on nandpro
nandpro image.bin: -r16 bad3A3.bin 3a3 1
nandpro image.bin: -w16 bad3A3.bin 3FF 1
10. Now that you have moved the bad blocks, you are ready to flash your modified image.bin to your xbox.
This should do it for you.
Your Welcome
