Microsoft announced some improvements for the Xbox LIVE service during their keynote speech at E3. Mike Delman, vice president of global marketing at Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business group, gave an interview to The Seattle Times to clear up a few uncertainties.

In the interview, Delman stated that LIVE would be built into the PC platform, especially as the service has been successful on the Windows Phone 7. He considers it Microsoft's job to enable users to "buy a movie in one place and play it everywhere, buy a game in one place and play it everywhere." When asked specifically about compatibility with Windows 8, Delman said:

There will be a lot of similarities in design and service philosophy. Whether it's us or Apple or anybody else, people want to be able to navigate through multiple devices in a certain ecosystem very seamlessly so we're committed to that.

Microsoft had spoken about implementing cloud storage during the company's keynote speech. When asked whether Xbox LIVE would be the proposed cloud media service, Delman confirmed that this would be the "pervasive" media service across the Windows Phone, Xbox and Windows PC.

One of the other announcements was the provision of live TV streaming directly to your Xbox. When asked whether the live TV would be universal, Delman replied:

It will be tied to either a satellite broadcast company or a cable company. So in international markets, you'll just have one provider. In the U.S., it will be bifurcated by region, by market. You'll be a Comcast guy [in Seattle], for example.

He also confirmed that users would have to subscribe to the satellite broadcast or cable company to receive the transmissions. Also mentioned in our post about this announcement was the fact that Bing search would be introduced to the Xbox LIVE dashboard too. Delman confirmed that the Bing search will not search the Internet for you; it is purely for searching through "anything that's available on Xbox Live".
