When you go to their page, the left column.
In the middle of the left column, it should said
"Give the gift of gold" or something like that. Click that and you're good to go.

GO on their profile
under "send this user a friend request" there will be an option to gift gold.

I think you should choose someone that seems to be worthy of gold, not make a post and gift a random...
