This is a tutorial on how to make your own winterboard themes for your jailbroken iDevice(ipod touch/iphone).

Note: You do have to be jailbroken to do this!!!

This looks long and confusing but it is very easy and fast. I promise 8)

If you wish to be jailbroken and are not, go here.

Now before we begin there are going to be some things you need on your iDevice and your computer to do this.

First thing to download on your iDevice...

On your iDevice you are going to have to download OpenSSH from cydia. You might have to change your package to find it. Once you download OpenSSH it should automatically activate itself.

Second thing,

Go to cydia and download any and all themes you want. I recommend downloading ones with aspects that please you(icons, background, springboard, etc.). You dont have to like all aspects of the theme just bits and pieces to make cool themes.
Note: You can do this while doing other stuff on your pc.

First and only thing to download on your computer is...
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
WinSCP which i have a download for right [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Once downloaded and installed, open WinSCP and you will see this. Click "New"

Once you have clicked new this is what your screen will look like.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Fill in the infromation(ip address, pw, and username). How to find Ip address on your device is at the bottom in the tips!

Username: root
Password: alpine
Note: The username and password do not have capitalized first letters like i put in the pic!!!

Once you fill in the info hit "Save"

If you hit "Save" it will look like this...

If your WinSCP looks like this then hit "Login". If it gives you trouble logging in, start a youtbe video of anykind, doesnt matter what it is(dont ask how i found that out). Then hit login and move on to the next step.

After clickling login, it will bring up this little window.

Now type in "alpine" and hit "Ok" and you will now see whats on your iDevice.

Follow the image...

Click the up arrow like in the pic.

Once you have done that above...
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Open the folder "Stash".

Find the "Themes.blahblah" folders.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Once your in stash go down and you will see 1 or 2 folders labeled "Themes.blahblah"(reasoning for the ".blahblah" is because your could say different. I do no know.)
I use the first one in the picture.
Open one of them up. I use the top one.

And there will be a list of all your themes. No image sorry .

Now select and drag and drop...

Now select all of them or just the ones you want and drag and drop them into the folder you made for them all. Also it is easier to use the "Shift" key and select all themes at once and copy them to the new folder..

And this is what it will look like. NOTE: In the image I said to put the name of the theme between the *'s. DO NOT DO THAT! Just leave it alone and copy.

And this should be the finished product of all that above...
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

NOTE: Once you have finished with transferring themes from device to folder go back to where stash is open and you can see the 1 or 2 folders labeled "Themes.whatever"
Makes it easier for putting themes on your ipod!!!

Now that you have all the themes you want in your folder that you made.
Open up some of them to see what makes a theme a theme.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Im not going to take screens of every thing in there, you can figure it out ;)
And because you need to go through all the themes you put in the folder to find what you like and would want in you new theme.

Use a theme with lots of stuff in it like the one above, Apple Element, and use it as sort of a template.

New theme folder now...
Now that you have messed around a little bit looking at what is in some different themes. Make a brand new folder titled what you want your theme to be named.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

TIme to start transferring.
Now open up the new theme folder along side with the folder you put all your themes from your iDevice in. Like this...
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

With that done start opening up the themes that had stuff you liked in it and putting them in the new theme folder.

Note: You can only have one of each thing. Dont load the folder with 2 wallpapers or 2 docks, etc. etc..
Also, everything has to have the EXACT name. You can switch everything around you want to but make sure everyting is labeled the same as any other theme.

Finished folder should look something like this.

Finished product should look like this. Im going to use an old one of mine as an example.

Wrapping things up.
Now with that done we're moving on to putting it on your iDevice.

Hopefully you left WinSCP open where you can see the 1 or 2 "Themes." folders.

If you didn't however just go back through the tutorial to get there again.

Now just drag the theme you just made, the whole folder, and drop it in one of the "Themes." folders and thats all there is to it!

Tips and other info:

1. If there is a theme that you only like the icons on it but the icons dont quite cover all the apps you have, you can open up that theme and change the name from either WinSCP, to just change the names of the icons on your device, or in the folder you copied them to and put them in a custom theme you are making. Note if you are going to change the names of icons to fit all your apps they have to be exactly what the app is called.

2. You can make your own lock background and wallpaper(springboard) and put them in your custom theme. The dimensions are 320(w)x480(l)

3. Keep WinSCP open at all times. Saves you from opening it again and going back to where you were.

4. How to find IP address on your iDevice. Go to settings>WiFi>CLick the little arrow next to the internet you are connected to and it will show your ip!

5. If you need anyhelp at all, are confused by this in anyway, or think i need to edit it post below or pm me and ill get to it.

Thanks ;)
Also, if this helped or you made a theme hit the thanks button.(just for feedback)
