I have seen a lot of threads being posted about how the rep system works so I made this thread to help the new members out. Lets begin.

How do I earn rep?
Reputation can be earned two ways. The first way is by posting. For every 25 posts you make (which includes topics and replies) you will earn 1 reputation power. The second way to earn reputation is to be rewarded with it. For every 100 reputation points you are given you will earn 1 reputation power.

How to do I give rep?
Giving someone reputation is very easy. All you have to do is go to a post made by the person you want to give rep to. You will see this:

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Click on the little green flag and you will see this:

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
From here you can choose if you want to give positive rep by clicking the circle that says "I agree with this post." You can give negative rep by clicking the circle that says "I disagree with this post." You can also select the amount of reputation points you want to give by clicking the drop down menu where it says "How many reputation points to give."

How much rep can I give?
The amount of rep you can give corresponds to your current reputation POWER. Do not get rep points and rep power confused. You can only give reputation ten times a day.
These are the maximum amount of rep points different types of users can give:
Non-gold member: 25 rep points
Gold member: 50 rep points
Staff: 100 rep points

How do I check my rep?
You can keep up with your rep by going to your profile, scrolling down and clicking on the tab that says reputation. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
From here you can see how many posts you need until you get your next rep power and you can also see the rep you have given and have received.

How do I get positive rep?
The easiest way to get a good reputation on here is to pretty much be a good person. Here is a list of things you can do to EARN your rep:
1.Help people out
2.Be nice and dont flame
3.Follow the rules
4.If you are good with Photoshop open up a free shop.
5.Get to know other members, remember we are a COMMUNITY.

The importance of reputation power:
The kind of reputation you have relates to the type of person you are. If you are a good member you will have positive rep. Positive rep is important because it lets people on TTG know that they can trust you. The opposite goes for negative rep. If you have negative rep, the community is going to have a very hard time trusting you when it comes to things like sales for example. So rep IS more than just a number.

Things to know about the reputation system:
When you give someone reputation points you do not lose the points you have. The only way you can lose rep points is by being given negative rep. Rep should not be used as a currency, it should be a reward for doing something nice or making a helpful topic. Abusing the reputation system is against the rules and can lead to you getting your reputation reset.

I hope I covered most of the things you guys were confused about. If this helped you in anyway please thank the topic and comment to keep the topic alive.
