Ok, sorry in advance if this goes on a bit...
I bought a jtagged Xenon at the weekend. It was working fine but I wanted a bigger hard drive so went and bought a 640gb and followed a tut on setting up a new jtag. I thought it would just set the hard drive up with software but it actually wrote something to the nand.
Next time I booted up it froze at the swirling logo, I did some reading up and discovered that I could get it to boot into Xell. I then realised I could flash a new nand to hopefully get it back working again, the problem was I never backed up the nand I got it with.
I used Easy Freeboot to create a freeboot image using donor files, connected to the jtag using debian as it wouldn't read from the usb key I had and flashed the Freeboot image.
The jtag booted up now but the console serial and optical drive make had changed, 360 games and xbla games still run though.
Then... The dvd drive decided to no longer read, the disc isn't spinning (Hitachi 78). I'd rather have a working optical drive but can live without it.
So to summerise... I have a jtag that boots, plays 360 and xbla games, but not xbox classic (I really want those) and has a stuffed dvd drive. I've asked the guy I got it from for the original nand image and he said he'll try to get it, but I doubt he will as it was probably done a while ago.
Where do I go from here, bin it and buy a new one, or can I get this one back to 100%?
I do have a spare xbox with a working Hitachi drive if that helps.
HALP!

just swap the dvd drive out, spoof the drive to your drive (doesnt matter about spoofing drives in a jtag because you cant go online) once that is all done, grab a flash dump (flashdmp.bin) by using flash360 and you should be good.

So was the dvd drive crapping out just a coincidence? Or is it to do with my stupidity?
Also, the nand currently on the jtag has the wrong console serial, manufacture date and dvd osig. Is that why classic games wont work?
I'm really not as dumb as I sound, I just dont want to screw things up further.

Right.
I've opened my 360 up, there are bridging wires in place but no jtag module. Also, my pc doesn't have an lpt port so I'm not going to easily be able to do this myself.
Is there anyone nearish to the SE London area that can help me out? Got the money ready and will drive to you asap.
Cheers.
