What is your budget? If you are playing professionally where large amounts of money are at stake, seriously consider buying a very high-end card like a 580. Any intense scenes with quality maxed and at a high resolution will not cause the game to lag at all with a nice card.

Ok, thank you. I plan on playing at MLG Orlando. I have a ATI Radeon HD 5700 right now. Will the 580 make a big difference?

uhh your CPU is decent, but you should upgrade to a 1090T or the 1100 at 3.2 and 3.3 ghz, your card is decent and will definatly run starcraft, it should run at high settings, im not sure of the recommended stuff for starcraft.

No. Sorry, but that is flat out wrong. Make sure you know your stuff so you don't tell people the wrong thing. Upgrade the CPU and tell me how much the framerate changes on the same quality and resolution. Graphics cards can be bottlenecked by CPUs, but not in this case. The 5700 series cards are not up to date and "5700" is not actually a card. It is za series of cards, like I said. The highest end 5700 series card is the 5770, which is not very powerful.

If I were you, I would ditch your current PC for a custom built system. It looks good, it's intimidating, and makes you look very professional. In it, I would put an Intel 2500K and an AMD 6950.

But if you want to stick with your current system, I would put an AMD 6950 in it. It would play Starcraft like a dream and it is the best card out there for the money. Don't listen to this guy, he has no clue what he is talking about.

Ok he obviously doesn't want to spend tons of money on building a whole new PC for one MLG Event, and he said he has an HD 5770, which is what i meant to say, excuse me for making one typo. A simple upgrade to the 1090T is all he really needs as a quick fix to speed up his StarCraft, not a whole new gfx card and a new cpu. You don't know as much as you think you do.

Upgrading the CPU won't have as much effect as the upgrading the card would.

He also has a prebuilt system judging from the lower number Thuban CPU, so odds are that it is not a 5770.

And a 1090T IS a new CPU. And he never said he had a 5770. Even if he did have a 5770, I would suggest an upgrade. Also, more cores do not equate to more performance, especially in games. They are not heavily threaded.

Your CPU is fine.

I would try upgrading the GPU to a GTX 560/ AMD 6870.

Yea, I'm not looking to by a new PC for an mlg event, (mostly because you have to use there equipment.) But I'd would like it to be a little for enjoyable for online qualifying and laddering. So I think I might just buy an HD 6870 and see how that goes.
