It was legil but then they made it eligal this year hope that helps!!!!! PS people still do it thow like me!!

its not illegal its just frowned upon

but once u do it your apple warranty ends

and its what you do when its jailbroken that could be illegal

for example
downloading apps for free

but dont worry everyone does it and noone really gets in trouble

Its not illegal, however what you can do is. I.E. Downloading free apps. Dont worry tho, I dont know anyone who as been found out. If you need to send it back, just update the firmware.
