Hey ttg, I have an old Compag PC running ubuntu 10, and im trying to format it to NTFS so i can reinstall windows and use it to flash drives and jtag. I was dumb enough to assign the whole drive to ubuntu instead of just a small partiotion. I have plugged in the harddrive into my new computer and am now attempting to format it,but an having no luck. I really need help with this, i will plus rep for a month for good help

well the first thing id do is just right click on C:/ and format.
Or system restore it.
OR...use boot menu or setup menu and see if there is anything Format-Related

Ah this is simple, I had this issue recently.
1. Download Gparted (search in the software centre)
2. Boot into ubuntu via the live CD.
3. Start Gparted and create a new partition and assign it to ntfs.
4. Install windows, when install, delete linux partiotion.

Insert windows disc. And it will ask what hard drive to install to and just format the hard drive and install windows. It's that simple.

This will not work. Windows will not install on any hard disk that isnt formatted to NTFS or FAT32. Linux has already formatted the drive to something different, therefore windows cannot install.

Not true when formatting it will ask if you want FAT32/NTSF and both have fast format options
