Ok I recently found out my iPod touch has a defective battery and so I was thinking I would send it into apple because it still has the warranty so I I restore my iPod will they be able to detect it?

nope ive done the same thing 3 days with my ipod from best buy. just resrore it and they wont notice. u gotta love best buy's warranty
