Well, what I do is use a soft cloth or tissue and get just a little bit of water on it and gently wipe it on the back of the disk. Then I clean it with a towel/soft cloth and it works good as new.

dont put any food/polish/toothpaste on the disc.
if it wont read take it to a gamestore as they have machines that buff the surface back to a perfect finish.

If you watch your dog crap, the pick it up & rub it into the disk it works.
I haven't had any problems so far.
