cant i just get an lpt port to usb and plug in the usb to my computer, and just use the lpt like its a normal lpt???
and can i just downgrade my kernal, or does it stick with me forever???

No. Nandpro bit-bangs the SPI interface and requires hardware access to the LPT port. Notoriously difficult to use with PCI cards also. If your not going to get a USB flasher, you need a mother board with built-in LPT.
No you cannot just downgrade kernel. You HAVE to have an exploitable boot-loader (CB)

i would say USB is an easier route to go definately
