Cencorship is awful!

A good example is on black ops. The emblem creator is used to make explicit images/rude/offensive pictures and people get banned for doing so.But its an 18 so why shouldn't people be aloud to make stuff like that?

Video game censorship to be honest is pointless, it is to protect certain age groups from 'damaging' material in video games. But isn't their parents job to only purchase games which they KNOW are suitable? And anyway kids just get parents to buy them 18 rated games, and the parents are oblivious to the content inside that game.

For instance, Black ops, is one of the top selling games of all time, and its an 18. Now I can almost guarrentee that %60 percente of people who play this are under 18, and got their parents to buy it for them.

I think that video censorship is not working, parents need to step up and pay that miniscule amount of attention to what their kids are playing, and judge for themselves whether its age appropriate. Maybe with a commercial or advertisments inside gaming stores, juat to remind them what they are doing.

Censorship sucks!

I really don't think it matters, all children need to be taught one way or another. Just let it go and let us gamers have some fun!

Its ok, People learn from these kind of things. You dont see people going around shooting people/stabbings like in GTA / Mafia 2 (But the mafia :L) do you? + You dont see even people racing on the road + Parents that buy their kids underaged games Example: 12 Year old playing CoD. That is there problem. Also Illegal.

thumbs up ?? ;D

Yes, i believe it is as people pay for 18's, unless there is some seriously bad content then a filter should not be in place, you pay for 18's, you get 18's.

End of.

It's fine on where it's at, but banning a game over graphic content is stupid tbh. The age rating is there for a reason and if kids get hold of that material and play it then there playing at there own risk really.

I think censorship is a good idea, for example the airport mission on MW2.

People may have found that upsetting and having to play that mission to get to the next wouldn't have been fair.

I think games that have the option to turn off Gore and Blood is good for the younger audience.

I voted 'other'.

It's a mixed bag. Of course, with there being many different rating systems, no video game will be rated the same. A good example of that is Left 4 Dead 2, where for the ESRB (US, Canada and Mexico), the game is rated M, but for the OFLC (Australia), it's rated MA15+.

The problem with the rating is that in Australia, the game was actually edited for it to get its rating, because its original content was 'RC' (Refused Classification).

I genuinely think that censorship is really wrong. As I have already stated above, what is okay for someone over the age of 17 in one region, is not okay for someone over 15 in another.

I think it goes far beyond the censorship itself. These classifications need to be reviewed by parents, so their children are not playing mature-rated video games, because a lot of them obviously should not be exposed to such content.

Is it where it should be? For Australia in particular, no it isn't. This is why we have been crying for an R18+ review, because it is needed. And surprisingly, it looks like it will be happening by the end of 2011, which will even up the censorship in Australia, with the rest of the world. Well, apart from Germany, who are really strict on what they allow in their country.

Censorship is a very opinionated topic. It can go both ways. I think that censorship for some games is okay but mainly it is stupid. It is okay for games that are meant for kids under 13 but for games like call of duty and GTA it is censored way too much. Violence, nudity, and swearing are censored too much in these game. It should include way more gore for the realistic feeling, a little bit of nudity so we don't get too nerdy with the video games, and swearing is just a way of life everybody uses it even if you don't think so. If you are a parent and think your kids shouldn't know these kinds of things then simply go on the computer and read about the game before buying it for your child to find out what content it includes. If you buy a game and don't agree with the content that is your fault for buying it. You should use your brain and find more out about a game before buying it. Finally for the parents out there even if you think your kid doesn't know about this stuff and shouldn't then you are most likely wrong. I am 14 and my parents still don't think i know about this stuff when i have known about it for like 6 years now.
