if you really want to save money you can buy a dvd recorder and use that.

Personally I don't have one, I have the HD PVR. But I heard really good reviews about the Roxio. You should probably get Sony Vegas if you want to render your clips if you get it. If you want Sony Vegas for free then PM me, I can get it for you for free
