I have just brought a iPhone Brand new 3GS In the box, wasn't aware that it is Blacklisted - This means that the network is blocked. (The Networked Blocked it from having any signal or anything when you put a SIM card in) I am english, I am from London, The network is on Orange.

I have taken it to a shop in town, they said there is a way to do it. I have googled it, and there is one called ziPhone, does this work?

Thanks for reading this and I hope you can help.

-Declan.

Yes ziphone is the easiest way to change the IMEI. You may also want to change the serial number. Also did you buy the phone off eBay? If that happened to me I would neg feedback him, and report him. Be sure that once you change the IMEI you do not restore, or the phone will go back to its original IMEI, so make sure you can jailbreak, and unlock( If you need to), and then change the IMEI.

Good luck.

Oh and one last thing, be sure to change the IMEI to your previous phones IMEI. You cannot just make one up, because you could end up choosing one that is already in use. If you need any more help just ask me.

My old phone is a blackberry, what IMEI do I use now?

Can't I just get one from somewhere?

No you should not, because it will most likely be in use. Check your sim card that you used with the black berry, or check the sim tray that it uses.(If it uses one, I am not sure.) I am almost positive that you do not want your carrier to know about changing your IMEI, that is why you want to stick with the one you previously used.

Thats not going to work, sorry mate. I recommend selling the phone because putting a new sim card into a blacklisted, or blocked phone will just get you tracked by the police, or get you kicked off the phone carrier.

You need to jailbreak, but even if you unlock you cannot use the phone as it is blacklisted, you need to change the IMEI which can get you into trouble. Have you tried contacting the person that sold it to you? I would just send it back to that person. Oh and if it is an iphone 4, you cannot change the IMEI.

What sort of trouble can I get into?
