You tend to take images and just slap text on it and call it a avatar, try customizing with better fonts and such, use some lighting, contrasting, brightness etc.

People will take your work more seriously when it doesn't flash/move fast with bright colors

pretty good just actually edit it more like GraphichulDuhsigns said. But not bad!
