Hi, I'm having some problems getting roms to show up in my emulators. I have FBANEXT setup and running good. I am having problems with SNES360 .32 and MAME .72. They are showing up in freestyle dash 2 emulators tab, but can't get the roms to work.

In SNES360 I open the program and don't see any roms. I got achievement for unlocking homebrew when the program first starts, but no roms. I set paths in the settings.xml file but not sure if I did it right I only added a few games. Maybe somewhere in the pack is a bios type file that I haven't included yet. Thats what happened with FBAnext, I only added a few files and it didnt work but when I added all of them the roms showed up.

<MappedDrive DriveName=HDD1 Path=Hdd1:\Emulators\SNES360/> **This is for the emulator**
<MappedDrive DriveName=HDD1 Path=Hdd1:\Emulators\ROMS\SNES\/> **This is for the ROMS**
<PreviewPath>Hdd1:\Emulators\ROMS\SNES\Preview\</PreviewPath>

Now with MAME .72 it loads up, roms show up. But when I go to start game it says ERROR: required files are missing, the game cannot run. I have all the zips in 2 folders and have added the paths to the .ini file. So not sure why its saying the files are missing.

[Directories]
RomsPath0 = Hdd1:\Emulators\ROMS\MAME\
RomsPath1 = usb0:\roms
RomsPath2 = usb1:\roms
RomsPath3 = hdd1:\roms
ArtPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\artwork
AudioPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\samples
ConfigPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\cfg
GeneralPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\general
HDImagePath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\hdimages
HiScoresPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\hiscores
NVRamPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\nvram
BackupPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\roms\backup
ScreenshotPath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\screenshots
AutoBootSavePath = Hdd1:\Emulators\MAME\autobootsaves

Thanks for any help

<Settings>
<MappedDrive DriveName="GAME (XeX Location)" Path="GAME:\ROMS\"/>
<MappedDrive DriveName="HDD Drive" Path="hdd:\EMUS\Snes360\ROMS\"/>
<PreviewPath>hdd:\EMUS\SNES360\Preview\</PreviewPath>
</Settings>

That's exactly a copy and paste from my JTAG running FSD.
Notice your Path="
Also you're using HDD1, I am using HDD.

Hope this helps!

Hi thanks for the reply..

I changed my .xml to match yours. I still don't see the roms. When you put your roms in the ROM folder you created a path for. Do they have a .smc extension?? When I am ftping some of these files they don't seem to go thru unless I rename some of them. This pack I got is a full snes pack off blackcats and is done with 7-zip but I can still unrar normally with winrar. I have to unrar each pack individually which is a real pain. Maybe I should just try downloading another rom pack and see if that does anything.

Did you have to rename any of the .smc files since they have [] and symbols in the file name??

I use winRAR.
You can write click the 7zip file and select extract here, or folder.
OR Select all 7zip files right click and extract them all at once, should speed thing up for you.

I had the same problem with files not wanting to transfer. I either renamed them, or used a different file, I forget.

Yes, all mine are smc. and I would stay away from any special characters.

Try with one file. Try and get one working before using the masses.

are you using a USB HDD or Jump Drive or a normal hard drive?

Thanks but I don't really like people being able to control my computer specially someone I don't know. nothing against you.

I tried having a few roms in the Game folder and created a roms folder in there. edited the settings.xml to show that path and still nothing. I found a post where someone put it in the roms folder in the content folder for it to work off the internal hdd but still nothing. should I be using the SNES360 emulator that is in GOD format?? The one I am using is just an .xex file with a media folder. Not sure if its snes360 or these roms that are the issue.

The issue with your setup is your settings. SNES is obviously running, but it's not finding the ROMs, most likely your setup.

Think about team viewer, you have control as well, and a simple ESC terminates the session.

I got it.. you were right about the HDD thing. I read the read me and it says:

Edit Settings.XML to define where your Roms will go. You can add as many MappedDrive
tags as you need. Valid Devices are:

GAME:
USB0:
USB1:
USB2:
DVD:
HDD:
MEMUNIT0:
MEMUNIT1:

so I renamed it to HDD instead of HDD1 just for the roms and it worked. I left the HDD1 in the default.xex path tho.

Finally got SNES360 working thanks for your help. What a simple fix for such an annoying problem lol. Now I just need to figure out why in MAME 0.72 my roms show up but they say file missing when they are actually there. Would you happen to have this emulator setup?? I have FBANEXT running good, seems to have all the same emulators as MAME so maybe I'll just stick with FBANEXT. When I get a chance I will check to see which ones FBANEXT and SNES360 don't have compared to the MAME roms. I know MAME has nba jam and mortal kombat but those are also on SNES so I think I might be able to just get rid of MAME. After unraring all these snes roms it comes out to be like 16GB!

Is each .smc file one rom?? Or do you need all those other .smc files to make up one rom. Cause for some games I see quite a few of them

one smc is one game

some will crash your EMULATOR because they're not smc... you'll find them.

I have SNES that's all.
Enjoy the 1000's of games!
