theres always a chance of getting banned for any type of modding

If you happen to land a moderator in your lobby than yes, otherwise, no

No, but I have it on so almost all the time (depending on how good your modem is) you are host. One mod makes it so when you search for someone you start your own lobby and people join yours instead of you joining theirs
