Hello TTG,

Im currently attempting to make my first modded controller and i have some exp. but not alot so i have a few questions about it:

First off, here's the tut. that i am following: Forums/t=159873/xbox-360-rapidfire.html

Okay here goes the questions:

1. What microchip do I need for this? It says: Pic12f683 but that is not very specific. I have googled it but still not sure on the exact one...

2. Ok, next question is what socket do i need for the chip? I have one in there right now but not sure if it will fit the chip so i will just purchased a whole new socket for it...

3. Ok last question, when inserting the wires into the RS232 (serial) female socket, do you solder the wires into it so they dont come out or do you just let them sit in there?

Again thank you for taking the time to help me with theses questions and here is a few pics of my progress so far incase this helps you with my questions at all:

Edit: Also i forgot to mention, the only tech/electronic store that is remotely close to me is a radio shack so if possible was hoping i could get those two parts from there

Edit 2: oops sorry for posting it in the wrong section before and double posting it

Well to be honest, i think thats WAYYY to complicated, so if you wanna purchase a kit or if you have one and need help installing it PM me, but this is way to complicated. Usually all you need is a Chip, Resisters, Diodes, wire.

Yes the chip 12f683 yes you will need one of these, this is the rapid fire part, you will need to buy this from a mod chop or site, but most of the sites only sell them as kits, so if you need one we carry 3Modes, 5Modes, 8Modes, and we can customly make you one with the modes of your choice. If you dont wanna buy one then you will need to buy a PICkit2 programmer and blank chips and program them yourself. And also the resisters and diodes are only neccessary for Matrix boards!

"Programming the chip is too hard. Here, buy one from me instead".

Nice, very nice.

He asked where to get it....twice.

travdaily, what you want is the PIC12F683-I/P (thats the dip version). You can get these from alot of places, but they are all online. Nobody sells them in a walk-in shop. You should be able to pick these up in Ebay or goto [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
or [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . You should also be able to find the sockets there too. The socket you have is perfect, but you should also use one insid ethe controller too so you can reprogram the chip later as needed. As for the serial connector, I am not sure what you are asking. You need to take a picture of the serial connector as there are different types. Radioshack usually only sells solder cup DB9 connectors, so those you want to solder.
