I think it is possible but, as other are saying that we would be able to take them out of the sky before they got to us heres what I've learned.... That if it is an attack from the sky the problem would be MIRV`s (Multiple independently target-able reentry vehicle) and SLBM`s (Submarine-launched ballistic missile). The very first is your most common rocket but with 3 to 9 Nuclear Reentry vehicles, if they separated from the main rocket it would be damned near impossible to take all of them down in time.

The second is Submarine launched which the point of this is to get as close to the coast of your enemy then launch with very little to no success of hitting the missiles in time to save themselves (But it's Al Qaeda, I dont think they would use subs.) If any of you really looked into the cold war and what not you would know of the Overkill Doctrine, which is where the attacking country would launch 10x's as many missiles actually necessary for defense. Even if the US some how managed to destroy 90% of the missiles the other 10% would surely deliver a knockout. This is where the MAD comes in (Mutual Assured Destruction) no matter what everyone dies because of the ally countries the attacking and defending countries have. I highly doubt Al Qeada would risk this...... You could probably find this info on google if you tried or your world history book or if you have a great interest in war like me =]

I dont see it happening, but who knows. If it does, i hope we just turn the key and DESTROY that whole d*mn country.
