I just got E74 error on my Falcon JTAG after a couple times of the video freezing, xbox freezing, and their being artifacts on the output (grid of squares). According to XexMenu, my xbox was never really hotter than 63 degrees celcius for the CPU / GPU, and everything else was nice and cool as well. Not a lot of heat output. I played BLOPS for like 2 hours and nothing strange happened at all. Back to XexMenu and 65 celsius for GPU. Totally legit seeming. I stopped for an hour and decided to play some WAW. Went to xexmenu and it had artifacts so I rebooted and got into WAW and as soon as I go into a map, artifacts and freezing. Tried twice more and still freezing or artifacts upon entering the game.

Now, I get one red ring and E74. Xell still boots fine. No artifacts or anything (is this because of how the 3d vs 2d graphics are rendered)

So, my question is, do I need a reball and reflow or what?

I would go for a reflow.

If your from USA then get a reflow from Icy Tank: Forums/t=1168056/staff-icytanks-x...-shop.html

If you are from the UK then get a reflow from JTAG GALORE: Forums/t=1681398/uk-free-p-p-jtag...-mods.html

Both of these people are verified Trusted sellers so there is no need to worry about trusting them or not.

Hope i helped

A reflow for sure?

My secondary error code is 1022, pointing to cables or my encoder chip.

No different cables act differently, and Gentoo360 boots fine from xell. I have a couple of questions though. When booting xell from av cables, set to TV and plugged into a SDTV, should Xell have a grey or blue background? Because it seemed like the penguins on Gentoo360 were black and white, but they should be colored.

So, its like the console only outputs grayscale. Is that enough of a pointer for a reflow? I'll try with HDTV av cable in a tad.

Actually, you should go for a reball if you want your console to last for a LONG time. ;)

Not always true because the reball is more for the GPU.
