I update this, everytime there is a plugin update. So you get the latest version out!
These are just some amazing plugins that will help you start a server/protect it from griefers!
I will tell you what they do, and how to use them *The basics of them*. Also the download.
First Plugin..
BigBrother - You can see who griefed what!
How to - Find the block that used to be there, and right click or left click. It should pop up whos username did that. Once you do that, you will want to ban them, then do this command /bb rollback username *IT IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!!*

Log - It is a lightweight version of BigBrother, an alternative incase your hosting service doesn't work with BigBrother.
How to -
1) Install.
2) Ensure you have the correct permissions (see below)
3) Right click block with stick. DING!
4) If you want to check who destroyed a block, place a block there and right-click that.

MC Bans - You can ban players very easily. It works great also.
How to -
Step One
Register an account at [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
You should get a 8 character string
Go into test.mcbans.com:20023 minecraft server
/mcbans <8 char string>
Go back to mcbans.com website and logout [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Log back in [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Click register server, proceed to step two
Step Two
Go to [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Enter the server address
Click enter
You will be directed to [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
You should see a long string, that is the API Key
Copy it, proceed to step three
Step Three
Download the plugin [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] [1000+]
Run the server
Create a file in the directory "plugins/mcbans/settings.yml"
Use below as a template
Register an account at [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
You should get a 8 character string
Go into test.mcbans.com:20023 minecraft server

Go back to mcbans.com website and logout [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Log back in [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Essentials - Things like certain ranks for people. Also, has anti griefing tools in it, like burning etc.
How to - Theres loads of YouTube videos, haha theres so much I can't go into detail right now, I'm too tired, if I try now it'll be crap.

World Guard - I suggest you get this, it's great. You can protect certain regions, like the spawn etc.
How to - You'll need world edit, I'll have that one below. Once you have world edit, do //wand then left click the first place, then go to the opposite corner and right click. Once that's done, type this command in.. /region claim 12283 YourUser * i make it random numbers so I don't use them twice.

This is a good tut on what plugins to get for a bucket server but what about canary (crow)

Is there a good alternative to BB because a lot of paid hosts do not allow databases meaning BB won't work?

I'm still learning about different types of servers etc. So it may be awhile before I get those in.
