if you have windows 7 use a tool called the sniping tool.

It is very simple and let's you pick what parts of the screen you want to capture.

There's a lot of free programs you can use, Gyazo (I think that's how it's spelled) or you could just press the PrintScreen button on your keyboard, then edit it on paint and upload it using tinypics.com
