The Simple Way to Change a Keyvault Via Flash360
Tutorial:
The Simple Way to Change a Keyvault Via Flash360
By: Xbox360Xperts

For those of you who liked my previous tutorial on how to update via USB, I have updated the tutorial to use Flash360 rather than Xell to dump and write your NAND as some people were experiencing problems getting their USB drive to be recognized by Xellous.

This tutorial will give you a step by step on how to change the keyvault on your Xbox 360 using Flash360.

How to change the keyvault via USB using Flash360:

What’s needed:
•360 Flash Tool v0.91 ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )
• Xbins Auto Launcher ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )
•Flash360 (available at Xbins)

•Nand dump and CPU key from unbanned Xbox 360
or
•Decrypted keyvault from unbanned Xbox 360

Lets get started.
Extracting unbanned Keyvault from clean Nand. You MUST have the CPU key in order to extract and decrypt the keyvault from the Nand (if you already have a decrypted keyvault (kv_dec.bin) then you can skip down to step 16.

1. Open 360 Flash Tool and click the “Keys” menu.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

2. The keys menu will open up and you should enter the CPU key that goes with the unbanned Xbox 360 nand file. (see picture below) Without the CPU key for you nand you CAN NOT decrypt/extract the keyvault. If you did not receive the CPU key from the person you bought it from you need to get it from them.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

3. Click the “Open File” button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

4. Select the nand file that you purchased (for this example my file is named “nand_oirg.bin”) If you have the correct CPU key that corresponds with the nand file you opened the serial, DVD, OSIG and other menus will show the information of the Xbox 360 the nand was extracted from.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

If the CPU key is missing, or is not the right key then flash tool will say “Bad Key/KV” (see the picture below)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

5. If you’ve got the right CPU key and 360 flash tool is showing the correct information click on the “extract” button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

6. Check the box next to “key Vault” and click “OK”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

7. You will be prompted to choose a directory to save the new files to. For this example I have used the directory “XBOX_360” on the root of my “C” drive.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You should now have 3 new files in the directory you pointed to names “kv_dec.bin”, “kv_enc.bin”, and “log.txt”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Next I will show you how to recover your NAND from your Xbox 360 console. If you already have this file saved locally on your computer you should COPY (not move) it to the same directory as the other files now and skip to step 18.

8. Download and launch xbins and download Flash360v1.0.zip. I have highlighted the path to find it.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

9. Open the Flash360v1.0.zip file and extract the files to a new folder called “Flash360”.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

10. Copy the Flash360 folder to a USB Flash drive and plug it into your JTAG’d Xbox 360.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

11. On your Xbox Launch XeXMenu form the Games tab. If you do not already have XeXMenu installed then check out our tutorial section as there is a step-by-step to install it on your xbox.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

12. You will be asked to sign in to a profile so just pick one. Once launched you’ll be faced with the XeXMenu main screen.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

13. Hit the right bumber (RB) once and you will be able to browse for files on your xbox 360 storage devices. If you have a HDD plugged in then it will likely be the first to show up. Use the D-pad to switch to your USB Drive directory (the one containing the Flash360 folder).
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

14. Scroll to the Flash360 folder and press “A” to open the directory. Then scroll to “flash360.xex” and press “A” to launch the program.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

15. You will be faced with a blue screen similar to below. Press “X” to backup your current NAND to the USB Drive.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

16. Press the “A” button to save entire NAND to file.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

17. The program will execute and start backing up your NAND.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Once the process has completed there will be a new file called "flashdmp.bin" in the “Flash360” directory of your USB Flash drive.

18. If you do not know your CPU Key for your xbox retrieve it now by booting the xbox with the eject button. Make sure to leave theDVD tray open while the xbox starts up which will cause the xbox to boot into Xell/Xellous. When the process is complete you will be presented with a screen similar to below. Your CPU key will be in the red box (the picture below has it ereased)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

19. Reopen 360 Flash Tool and click the “Keys” menu.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

20. Enter the CPU key that corresponds with your Xbox (the one we just got from Xell/Xellous)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

21. Reopen 360 Flash Tool and click “open File.”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

22. Plug in your USB Flash drive and browse to the folder “Flash360”. Within that folder there is a file called “flashdmp.bin” that we just created. Select the file and click open. (note for this example the file is named “my_xbr_nand.bin.”) If you entered the CPU key correctly you should see the DVD key and serial number of your banned console.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

23. Click the “Import” button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

24. Check the box next to “key Vault” and then click the “. . . . .” to browse for the “kv_dec.bin” that we saved in step 7.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

25. Select the “kv_dec.bin” file as shown below and click “Open.”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

26. Click the “OK” button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

27. You will be prompted to save the new file. Browse to the same directory we have been using and save the file. For this I saved my file as “my_xbr_nand_unbanned.bin.”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

28. You will be dumped back to the main screen of 360 Flash Tool and everything will look as it did before importing the keyvault file. Click the “Open” file and select the file that we just saved in the previous step. If everything was done correctly then you should get a screen that shows all of the information from the unbanned console, but saved to the nand file for your console.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

We are now ready to update your xbox 360 console with the new unbanned nand file.

29. Make a copy of the newly patched nand file we just created and rename the new file “updflash.bin”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

30. Copy the “updflash.bin” file to a USB drive in the directory “Flash360”. Once completed plug your USB drive into your xbox 360 and power up.
Note: is it VERY important that you make sure your updated NAND file is correct for the Xbox. If it is not you will update your console and not be able to boot. The only way to recover from a bad update is to flash the Xbox via LPT or USB adapter.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

31. On your Xbox Launch XeXMenu form the Games tab. If you do not already have XeXMenu installed then check out our tutorial section as there is a step-by-step to install it on your Xbox.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

32. You will be asked to sign in to a profile so just pick one. Once launched you’ll be faced with the XeXMenu main screen.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

33. Hit the right bumper (RB) once and you will be able to browse for files on your Xbox 360 storage devices. If you have a HDD plugged in then it will likely be the first to show up. Use the D-pad to switch to your USB Drive directory (the one containing the Flash360 folder).

34. Scroll to the Flash360 folder and press “A” to open the directory. Then scroll to “flash360.xex” and press “A” to launch the program.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

35. You will be faced with a blue screen similar to below with (2) options.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

36. Press “A” to continue to the write menu.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

By pressing button “A” you will write your new NAND leaving your current keyvault and config files in tact on the Xbox NAND. This option would be used if you are updating XBR, Freeboot, etc and want to leave console specific information intact (not change the kv)

By pressing button “B” you will overwrite the entire NAND on your Xbox with the new file that is on your USB thumb drive. This would be for if you were trying to change your keyvault to unban your console.

37.For this example I will be changing the keyvault on the NAND so I press the “B” button. Because the keyvault on the update does not match the keyvault on your Xbox you will be faced with a warning similar to below. This is normal because we are changing the keyvault.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

38. If everything is correct and you are absolutely certain that you are using the correct NAND we created press the “Start” button to start the flashing process. The program will give you status while it flashes and once complete will say press any button to continue and then press the back button to shutdown.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

39. Restart the Xbox and enjoy your updated NAND. If you did everything correctly your system will now boot up and you will have a fresh keyvault installed.

Note: If you get an e79 error there is a very good chance that the file you thought was the nand for your console was not correct or you installed the nand you bought to your console instead of your own nand. In either case you will need to reflash your console via LPT/USB.

This tutorial will give you a step by step on how to change the keyvault on your Xbox 360 either through USB.

How to change the keyvault via USB:
What’s needed:
• 360 Flash Tool v0.91 ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )
• Xbins Auto Launcher ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )
• Nand dump (XBR or Original) and CPU key from banned Xbox 360
• Nand dump and CPU key from unbanned Xbox 360
or
• Decrypted keyvault from unbanned Xbox 360

Lets get started.
Extracting unbanned Keyvault from clean Nand. You MUST have the CPU key in order to extract and decrypt the keyvault from the Nand (if you already have a decrypted keyvault (kv_dec.bin) then you can skip down to step 16.

You should now have 3 new files in the directory you pointed to names “kv_dec.bin”, “kv_enc.bin”, and “log.txt”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Next I will show you how to recover your XBReboot nand from your Xbox 360 console. If you already have this file saved locally on your computer you should COPY (not move) it to the same directory as the other files now and skip to step 16.
Most versions of the XBR that people are running on their xbox have Xell embedded into it. You can check this by starting up the xbox with the eject button. Your xbox should boot into Xell and show a blue screen. Wait until everything has completed loading and read the very last line. If it says “http listen…” then your xbox is running Xell. If the last line says “httpd listen…” then you already have Xellous and can skip down to step 16.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
8. In order to update the nand via USB we need to update Xell to Xellous. Open the xbins.exe that was listed at the beginning of this tutorial. A FTP window will pop up and you will automatically be connected to xbins. Proceed to the directory “Xellous”. The path is outlined in red at the top right of the below image. Double click on the file “Xellous_v1.0.zip” to being the download.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

9. Open the zip file and drag the file “xell_2f.bin” to the same directory as your nand files.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

10. Rename the “xell_2f.bin” file to “updxell.bin” and put that file onto a USB drive.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

11. Place the USB drive into one of the UBS port on your Xbox 360 (I use the front ports) and power on the xbox using the eject button. By powering on with the eject button we are telling the xbox to boot into Xell rather than to the Xbox dashboard. If you have done everything correctly you will see a message saying “update will begin in XX seconds. If you do not wish to update power off now.” Once the update has completed you will receive a message to power off the xbox.

Note: It has been noted that your Xbox 360 DVD drive needs to be plugged in i order for Xell to update. If you are having problems updating try plugging in the DVD drive and starting the xbox with the eject button.

12. Before starting up the Xbox make sure that you have plugged in an Ethernet cable that is connected to the same network as your computer. Your Xbox boot to the blue Xellous screen and load. Wait until you get the line “httpd listen…192.168.x.xxx.”. If you have DHCP turned on in your router the Xbox will automatically be assigned an IP address. Most routers will start with IP address 100 which will be assigned to the computer you are staring at right now. Typically you should get an IP address in the range of 192.168.1.102 or higher. If you get the address 192.168.1.99 as shown below then you probably have done something wrong as it is the default IP that is assigned if the xbox is not connected to your network. The IP address listed is the one we are going to access the Xbox with.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

13. Open a Mozilla Firefox window and enter the IP address that your xbox listed in the previous step.

Note: Internet Explorer will not work so if you do not already have Firefox then download and install it.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
14. If your IP address is correct and everything is working you will be presented with a page that says “Xellous v1.0 by Redline99.” This page has all of the vital information having to do with your xbox including the CPU key, DVD key and the actual nand. Copy down your CPU key (you will need it in a minute) and right click on the “download” for “Raw Flash” and click “Save As.”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
15. Browse to the directory where you are saving all of your files and name the file “my_xbr_nand.bin”

17. Enter the CPU key that corresponds with your Xbox (the one we just got fromXellous)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

18. Reopen 360 Flash Tool and click “open File.”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
19. Select the XBR nand image that corresponds with your xbox (If you jest extracted it in step 15 it is the file named “my_xbr_nand.bin.” If you entered the CPU key correctly you should see the DVD key and serial number of your banned console.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

20. Click the “Import” button.

21. Check the box next to “key Vault” and then click the “. . . . .” to browse for the “kv_dec.bin” that we saved in step 7.

22. Select the “kv_dec.bin” file as shown below and click “Open.”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
23. Click the “OK” button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
24. You will be prompted to save the new file. Browse to the same directory we have been using and save the file. For this I saved my file as “my_xbr_nand_unbanned.bin.”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

26. Make a copy of the newly patched nand file we just created and rename the new file “updflash.bin”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
27. Copy the “updflash.bin” file to a USB drive. Note: If you skipped previous step of updating from Xell to Xellous you will need to go back and do steps 8- 11. Then plug the USB drive into your console and boot using the eject button. The xbox should boot to Xellous and show a blue screen. If you did everything correctly after a few seconds it will say “update will start in XX seconds. If you do not wish to update power off.” Let the console update (this takes about a minute or so). Once the update is applied and the new nand is written you will receive a message to power off the system.

28. Power off the system, then power back on using a controller or the power button. If you did everything correctly your system will now boot up and you will have a fresh keyvault installed.

Note: If you get an e79 error and you did not recover your nand as outlined in steps 12-15 then there is a very good chance that the file you thought was the nand for your console was not correct or you installed the nand you bought to your console instead of your own nand. In either case you will need to reflash your console via LPT/USB.

• HDD1 is partition 3 of your Xbox 360 hard drive. This partition contains all of your profiles, game saves, downloaded content, etc.
• HDDX is partition 2 of your Xbox 360 hard drive. This partition contains Xbox 1 compatibility files to emulate Xbox 1.

15. Click on “HDD1” then "Content" and you will see the following:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

• “0000000000000000” contains all of your downloaded content.
• “Exxxxxxxxxxxxxxx” is your game profile and contains all of your game saves. There could be a number of folders that start with the “Exx…” depending on how many profiles you have on your xbox.

How to Update your NAND via Flash360.

How to Update your NAND via Flash360.
By: Xbox360Xperts

This tutorial will give you a step by step how to properly update your NAND using Flash360

What you’ll need:

Xbins [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
XeXMenu (see other tutorials for how to install this)
Flash360 (can be found on Xbins>Xbox 360>Dashboards>Flash360

1. Download and launch xbins and download Flash360v1.0.zip. I have highlighted the path to find it.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

2. Open the Flash360v1.0.zip file and extract the files to a new folder called “Flash360”.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

3. Copy the Flash360 folder to a USB Flash drive and plug it into your JTAG’d Xbox 360.
4. Put your updated NAND in the same folder. Make sure to name it “updflash.bin” or Flash360 will not find the file.

Note: is it VERY important that you make sure your updated NAND file is correct for the xbox. If it is not you will update your console and not be able to boot. The only way to recover from a bad update is to flash the xbox via LPT or USB adapter.

5. On your Xbox Launch XeXMenu form the Games tab. If you do not already have XeXMenu installed then check out our tutorial section as there is a step-by-step to install it on your xbox.

7. Hit the right bumper (RB) once and you will be able to browse for files on your xbox 360 storage devices. If you have a HDD plugged in then it will likely be the first to show up. Use the D-pad to switch to your USB Drive directory (the one containing the Flash360 folder).
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

8. Scroll to the Flash360 folder and press “A” to open the directory. Then scroll to “flash360.xex” and press “A” to launch the program.

9. You will be faced with a blue screen similar to below. Press “X” to backup your current NAND to the USB Drive.

Once the process has completed there will be a new file in the “Flash360” directory of your USB Thumb drive.

12. You are now ready to update your NAND using the “updflash.bin” file you have on the USB drive. Press the back button until you are back at the main menu of Flash360.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

13. Press the “A” button to get to the write menu. You will be faced with (2) options.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

By pressing button “A” you will write your new NAND leaving your current keyvault and config files in tact on the Xbox NAND. This option would be used if you are updating XBR, Freeboot, etc and want to leave console specific information intact.

By pressing button “B” you will overwrite the entire NAND on your Xbox with the new file that is on your USB thumb drive. This would be for if you were trying to change your keyvault to unban your console.

If you press button “B” and the keyvault on the update does not match the keyvault on your Xbox you will be faced with a warning similar to below. Make sure you double check everything before proceeding.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

14. For this example I will be leaving the current keyvault on the NAND intact so I press the “A” button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

15. If everything is correct and you are [size=150]absolutely certain that you are not going to mess up your xbox press the “Start” button to start the flashing process. The program will give you status while it flashes and once complete will say press the back button to shutdown.

16. Restart the xbox and enjoy your updated NAND.

How Burn an XBOX 360 Game From an .iso File.
By: Xbox360Xperts

This tutorial will give you a step by step how to properly burn an Xbox 360 game from an .iso file.

What you’ll need:

IMGBurn [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
DVD+R DL Double Layer DVDs. I always recommend Verbatim brand disks as they are higher quality and compatible with all XBOX 360 DVD Drives.

1. Launch IMGBurn and change the mode to “Write” if it is not already set.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

2. Place a Verbatim DVD+R DL disk into the DVD burner drive on your PC and choose the corresponding drive in IMGBurn.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

3. Click the open icon and browse to the game image that you want to burn.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

4. You should find a “.iso” file and either a “.dvd” or “.mds” file in the folder. Always select the “.dvd” or “.mds” file as this file is a cue sheet that sets the layer break of the double layer DVD to the correct spot. If you do not select one of these files your DVD will burn but your Xbox 360 may see the file as a “Mixed Media” disc.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

5. If you do not have a “.dvd” or “.mds” file click cancel and on the main IMGBurn window click “Tools> Create DVD MDS File…”
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

6. You will be presented with a new window. Click the “Add” button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

7. Browse to the folder containing the game “.iso” file.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

8. Select the game “.iso” file and click open.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

9. Check the “Layer Break LBA” box and enter the number “1913760” and then click “OK”.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

10. The “.mds” file will automatically be named to match your game.iso image so all you need to do is click “Save”.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

11. You will be prompted with a new window telling you the file was successfully created.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

12. Click the open icon and browse to the game image that you want to burn.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

13. Select the newly created .mds file that we just created and click “Open”.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

14. Set the burn speed to either 4x or 2.4x depending on your DVD drive and the disks that you have.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

15. Uncheck “Test Mode” and “Verify” and click the write button.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Depending on your burn speed your disk will take 20-45 minutes to burn. Once completed you will be greeted with a “success” window. Test out the disk in your XBOX 360.
