well i have a hdmi input on my new laptop and i play xbox on it alot i was wondering if i could use it as a capture card? and if you cant dont be a douche about it cause i didnt know...

No. I believe that's to display your laptop on a TV screen. It's an output not input.

no.. its an input, I play xbox on it all the time. The computer I have is an Alienware m17x.

edit: And if i go to some recording software's i can choose the HDMI input for sound but not for video, idk its cause i have a built in webcam or not.

You need either an output, or a capture card like BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle.

Interesting. But I doubt you can use it to record as it's just to display. You would still need a capture card.
