If you link it to the market it shows up as installed and updates don't cost money. I've been doing it this way for a very long time.

Really? Cause, for me, they show up as installed, but when I hit update, it brings me to the Select Payment type screen.

Thats because its in an early stage. For some phone it does, some it doesn't. But the crash doesn't do much. It takes me back to my most recent searched thing. Which is perfect.
