so i put iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 the other day and after having trouble activating it i decided to downgrade... that didn't work well and i got stuck at the connect to iTunes screen. i tried restoring in iTunes to 4.3.3 but it fails every time. please help me. i tried tiny umbrella and had no luck (this is probably because i don't know how to use the program) and redsn0w didn't work either.

use redsnow, select ios 5.0, then put it into pwned dfu mode. after that shift click on itunes, find version 4.3.5 (4.3.3 doesn't work i tried) then restore. you will be on 4.5.3 firmware.

You probably downloaded iTunes 10.5 which is to upgrade to iOS 5. So you need to uninstall iTunes completely and all it's components. Then go on [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and download the set-up for iTunes 10.4.1 which I think is the latest one. Once that is finished downloading, go to Start -> Music -> iTunes and rename the "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library.itl.old". Once that is completed. Navigate to Start -> Music -> iTunes -> Previous iTunes Libraries. Copy and paste one of them, if you have several and maybe try each one separately, into iTunes Directory, it will be named the iTunes Library 2011-8-23(example date).itl. Paste it into the directory of iTunes and delete the date from it.
iTunes should open and then hit "Restore".
