Yes , you can do everything w/o having the achievments from the other maps.
Now! If you dont have the achievements from the other maps, then you cannot do it on SOLO mode. Other than that, If your playing online then you shouldnt have a problem, you were probably just not doing it right.

think you will find its a bug in the easter egg as me and my friend always get stuck at the same part as you and no1 seems to know the truth if you need 4players in the game for the easter egg or not i think you cant do it with 2 or 3players as me and my friend has tried both and the golden rod didnt go between the plates so i think its best you try with 4players instead of just the 2 of you soon as me and my friend have someone else in are party we are gonna try it and if the easter egg works with all 4people in the game then i will make a post telling everyone that it only works 4player

WRONG ive done it with all four people that dont even have the other maps
