Do you need both of them for the easter egg? We got the focusing stone but not the golden rod.

yes you need both mate unless you are playing with people who already have it

From what I have been hearing if you have the Call Of the dead achievement and you play as the German then yes if you have not got COTD achievement then no cannot be done not unless someone who you playing with does have it.
