It seems that rumours of a sequel to The Inbetweeners Movie have been grossly exaggerated, with writers Iain Morris and Damon Beesley saying they have no knowledge of a proposed Part 2.

The original tabloid story claimed that the follow-up would be set four years after the original, and take place on the eve of Neil's wedding.

But when Den of Geek spoke to Morris, he said that "as we haven't talked about anything, the idea that there's a plot is insane."

The story also claims that the writers have been speaking to studio bosses, but as the movie was made independently, there was no studio.

With The Inbetweeners Movie making a mint at the UK box office, however, there will doubtless be pressure on the pair to come up with the goods for a sequel, but for now they are just enjoying the success of Part 1, with Morris stating "it's brilliant and humbling that people like it so much we love working with the boys, we honestly miss them, and the reaction to the film is incredible, so we've got a lot to talk about."
