okay to start of a couple of months ago my sisters friend spilt water or something on it very little but still went on it it seem to work fine after that.
my charger was a bit messed up sometimes barely chargering eventually i had to get a new one hp sent it to me i got a hp compac presario CQ61 windows 7
it then worked fine but then only the other day i updated it i found out it was a service pack 2 i turned it of during configuring the service pack ( my bad i know) after turning it back on i got windows file not configured proberly e.t.c if it powered of during start up resume normally or else startup repair it said i needed a disc although the guy in the shop said it was built in on a partition i don't know how to access this or anything im not to good with computers they said they wont do anything with my laptop due to the water damage they also think the hdd is damaged i tryed safe mode and everything but nothing will work sometimes it says its overheating a cheap way to fix this would be very helpful can any one help i may be able to sort them out with some money or something

Can you access the desktop? If not you need to do startup repair or just put a new fresh copy of Windows 7 on it. The water damage was before the service pack update so since the computer worked fine before I doubt the water damage influenced the damage caused by the service pack. Go to another computer repair shop but don't mention the water damage. It could be a simple repair or an extensive and expensive one. If it comes out expensive your best bet would be to reinstall the OS.

Do one of the following:
If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press ENTER. (If Repair your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer does not include Startup Repair as a preinstalled recovery option.)
Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next.
Select a user name and enter the password, and then click OK.
On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair might prompt you to make choices as it tries to fix the problem and, if necessary, it might restart your computer as it makes repairs.

i click repair and it says use a disc but that dosnt work what happens if i downlaoded a repair disc thing and burn it to a cd and use it that way ? i hope that would work

as in burn the os on the disc i tryed the repair thing i downlaoded of google that isnt working
