I'm planning on jailbreaking it and my only worry is that it will brick. I'm running on 4.3.5, so I'm using redsn0w. And I've never jailbroken anything before. Is it easy to brick your iPhone? (or whatever device your using)

It is very unlikely for you to Brock it, if it freezes mid jailbreak (you have to unplug the device for this to happen) then you my need to restore it, so make a back-up before.

I have never heard of a 'Legit' brick for an iPod. Unless you were messing with the electrical things inside of it. Jailbreaking will NOT brick your device, unless you are doing something really stupid with jailbreaking and you get an illegitimate jalibreaking software.
Also for a 100% safe jailbreak, go to j a i l b r e a k m e.com on your iPod's safari, if you have 4.3.5 or below.

Jailbreak me doesn't support 4.3.5.
