I have a few dvr's laying around from past cable providers and i was wondering if there is a way to turn the dvr into a pvr. i want to record and upload to my laptop. is this possible? i am aware there will need to be some input jacks changed, im more worried about the technological parts. any imput would be great, thanks

yea i googled the piss out of it, found a bunch of babble. seems like it would make more sence to take the hard drive out(250 gb) and put it in a old tower, then buy a pci card of some sort for recording. theres plenty of how to build your own dvr/pvr stuff. this seems more reasonable. i still think the original idea could work but... i have towers too. so now my question, pci card for recording?????? any advice?? the tower i will more than likely use will be a older Dell of some series.
