Brainwavz M2, hands down. It stretches the budget to 60, but I bet you can find them elsewhere for less. The name might sound cheap, but they make some really quality products. Likely the best you'll get from an IEM around $50.

You can always give them a bit of a boost later on with about 30 bucks by getting a Fiio E6 (or E5) amplifier and a line-out connector if you use an iPod!

The only thing to come of the "Beats craze" is showing that people are more or less willing to spend big money on headphones. If a quality brand got some hype for actual quality that Beats and SCs lack, I would be overjoyed. Sennheiser, Grado, Denon, Audio Technica, Etymotic, Beyerdynamic, etc... They need a marketing strategy to get REAL headphones out there.
