hey guys I am just wondering if my laptop is upgradeable or not. the specs currently are

MAKE: Hewlett-Packard
model: HP G60 Notebook PC
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-core CPU T4200 @ 2.00 GHZ
RAM: 4.00 Gb
System Type: 64 bit operating system

Im not that great with the components of computers, but I am hoping to switch out the RAM, and also put a new graphics card in. This wouldnt have any negative effects on my laptop right?

please post a reply, If you help me out I will definitely rep 8)

Would not have negative effects. However, there is not a massive amount you can upgrade. Your RAM is not bad for a laptop. You wont be able to upgrade graphics.

You may be able to upgrade the ram, it'll depend on your motherboard and how many dims it can support.

No, you can NOT upgrade the video card. If it's Intels HD graphics, it's built into the CPU. It never caught on, well, maybe on some of the bulky 17'' laptops.

ok well that is somewhat useful, If you say that is a fair amount of RAM, how come I can't even host a minecraft server for 4 people without myself lagging a fair amount (everyone withing 10 km from eachother too). The main reason I wish to upgrade my laptop is for minecraft bascially. Could you please give me some advice on how I could upgrade to stop this. Like will upgrading the RAM make that much of a difference? and should I possibly look at a newer laptop rather than upgrading anything. Please help me on this, thanks guys again 8)

It's more than likely your internet and slow CPU. If you're not capping the 4gb's of ram right now, upgrading will give you absolutely no performance boost. Looking into a gaming laptop is not the best option - Completely overpriced. A sweet desktop would be a better, cheaper option.

That's not fast, at all. Your ping also has a bigger impact then anything.

I switch out my cpu

It depends on your motherboards socket. You can't just put a random CPU into a random mothrboard, it'll physically not fit.

Honestly, upgrading a laptop is usually not worth it ( Expect for ram and HDD ).
