What are you looking to increase speed on xbox ? I personally had a lot of lag and disconnecting with my old router while playing on my xbox and I have rogers high speed internet. I upraded to the DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and noticed way better connection performance on my xbox as well as while using the computer. I don't lag or disconnect at all now.
Hope This Helps. 8)

Bypass your current router and just hook up your PC directly to the modem. If your internet speed increases then yes it may be time for an updated router.
