what you can do with rep is look good and give rep to other people

You can rep other users that you feel deserve rep or you just want to give rep to.

Since you're a regular member, you can only give a maximum of 25 reputation points to a user at a time (if you have 25 reputation power to begin with).

If you become a Gold Member, you can give members a maximum of 50 reputation points at a time (if you have 50 reputation power to begin with).

Sectional Moderators can give a maximum of 75 reputation points at a time (if they have 75 reputation power to begin with).

Global Moderators/Administrators can give a maximum of 100 reputation points at a time (if they have 100 reputation power to begin with).


Rep also builds your reputation on the site, in a way (hence the "reputation" part of it).
