They charge you to change your gamertag, so less people would change it.
If everyone changed their gamertags in one day for free,it would overflow the Xbox Live sever,making Xbox Live go down.

its been like this for some time now i think its permanent because to many people were complaing about it being expensive

xbox live 60 bucks a year 5 bucks a month(ttg gold)
also a more thriving community on xbox
also you can actually change your gt instead of make a whole new profile

They do it every so often. So if you wanna change your gamertag, I suggest you do it as soon as possible.

ps3 is whack, xbox rule's. we dont get garbage connection like you guy's on ps3, and we don't get are system hacked like ps3, that's why we would rather be on xbox and pay then get hacked and get about 1000's of dollars stolen of are credit cards.
