Just to let everyone know that you should expect Battlefield 3 reviews from gaming sites starting tomorrow starting around 3 AM ET as this is when the review embargo EA has set will be lifted. Please note however that the reviews that will mostly be posted in these locations will be mainly of the PC version as EA gave the copies to gaming sites to review first while the 360/PS3 version have reportedly have come extremely late to review for launch (let alone the embargo) and even [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] in a post to it's readers have stated we anticipate we'll receive the game on Monday, though it won't be in any reviewable state until we get our hands on its "day-one" patch. We're unsure whether this update will go live on Monday or Tuesday, but we won't be able to really dig in until it's been obtained, which will push our review back to the middle of next week (note day one patch has already been reported to have been released online for a massive 167MB)
This is the same sentiment for other sites as [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] relay the excat same message that EA are giving them the copies of the game extremely late. So if you want to know how the game plays on the consoles then you either have to wait for the reviews or just buy it at launch and play for yourself.
Now personally to me, this was just a ploy by EA to make sure that every reviewer had to download the day one patch and reviews it that way because without that 167MB they would have probably given the game bad reviews and it would have looked like the game was unfinished and in this stupid Battlfield vs Call of Duty War. They would have looked like the losers in it all especially on a marketing standpoint (they don't have to worry about the PC version because they can upload the patch whenever they want while they have to wait on Sony and Microsoft on the consoles for certification). I think that no matter how much you argue it, the beta that we all played it seems was closer to the final product than what we were told and personally the only proof that i need is the day one patch being the biggest patch i have ever seen for a retail game (please don't say Gears 3 Beta because that was a BETA) ever let alone at launch. But oh well i hope the game is fun in the end anyway
