Mine was definitely not under $600, but search Google and check eBay for good deals.

If you build one your self and find good deals on parts. It should be enough.

If you build it yourself and torrent the O/S, it can easily be done, well, besides playing BF3 at high/ultra.

Just a sketch:

955.
6850.
Antec-300 / Zalman Z9.
DVD burner.
500gb Seagate.
500w Antec Green.
4GB kit of G.skill.
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P AM3+.
