You might have the wrong software , or the jailbreak does not correspond with the iPod. You will either have to try to download a new jailbreak , or try some other steps.
Are you sure your holding it long enough ? Maybe the power button needs to be held down longer. Or are you sure your iPod will work with the jailbreak ? I have seen many jailbreak websites and downloads and I have a spare iPod to try it on so if it messes up then I know not to do it on my iPhone.
Try holding the button a little longer , and if you still go into recovery , then just do a hard reset.

Step 1: Hold the power button for 10 to 20 seconds
Step 2: Hold Home + Power Button for 10 (max)

And it should go into DFU Mode.

I no it Works I did it Yesterday On my Ipod on 5.0 But I just Turned it on and everything was gone(Thether Jailbreak)

So I know It works I always have Problems getting it into DFU mode but I can Get it sometimes!! But today I just cant Get it and it really Sucks Big TIME

you hold both for 10 seconds then let go of the power button and keep holding the home button for 5 seconds if done correctly you should not see anything

pug it into computer then hold sleep button for 5 sec then keep pressing the sleep button and begin holding the home button until the screen goes black. if you have anymore questions i will help you

I did it I did it YAA!!! I did it then it went to recovery so then I turned off and As it turned back on I held home button for 3 Seconds then Both for 10 seconds then the Home ONLY 4 11 Seconds and it Worked:D
