Ok to start off, this is not a rant, it's a post that I would like to put up to let people know my opinion about dubstep.
With that being said here we go:
People have really been flaming the new version of dubstep, or as some people like to call it "Brostep." This term came because some of the classic dubstep fans don't like the new version that artists have changed to. I personally think that this term is invalid in the sense that it is still dubstep either way. Dubstep is an ever changing genre of music, just like any other kind of music. Look at classic rap compared to today's rap as well as classic metal compared to today's metal. They have changed a whole lot as well, but it is still considered rap and metal. They don't call classic rap by its name and then call the newer rap "bro rap" even though it has changed audiences and attracted more people in because of the way it has changed. It's the same as dubstep, dubstep has gotten heavier than the older versions of it because it is an ever changing genre, but it still has the same style beat and patterns. I think people flame skrillex because he changed up the way dubstep was thought of and expiremented with a different type of music. He did this to try something new, and it brought in a lot more fans to the dubstep scene. Compare him to someone like caspa, and his music sounds different, but it has just gotten a new feel to it. Look at NWA compared to Lil Wayne or Wiz Kalifa, they sound different and thier styles are different, but it brought new fans in to the Rap scene and both are classified as rap.
The flaming on mainstream artists need to stop as well, a lot of people flame on people like Skrillex and Excision because they are mainstream, but isn't that every artists goal to make it big. I know that I don't make my stuff to only reach out to an audience of a couple hundred people, I want to make it big, I want to play big shows and stuff like that. Yes I completely agree that Skrillex is a little overplayed, but he made it mainstream, which is an amazing thing to accomplish. I also agree that there are better artists out there as well, but they don't all want to stay in the underground, they want to make it like Excision and Skrillex as well.
To conclude this post I will post up a couple of classic songs compared to some new age stuff. You can make your own decisions but I think that if we want to keep this genre alive we need to stop flaming each other. Dubstep is dubstep whether its new age or classic we should just shut up and listen to the music.

First off, the "Classic Style" tracks you posted are not. These are classic. These are in line with what dubstep was when it was a younger genre. They are truly dubstep.
The people who watched dubstep grow and change wish it was more like it used to be. Considering dubstep rose and changed so quickly in comparison to genres like rap and rock, I think the old and new should be separated in terminology. People that see only the most recent developments in what is commonly referred to as dubstep, like heavily modulated voices and wobbles will call that dubstep, because they are ignorant of what dubstep used to be. Keep in mind that I'm not labeling the newer styles as bad, I'm labeling them as so different that they should have different terminologies.
I see so few commonalities between the above tracks and this one that I can't see how they are in the same genre. Older rap and new rap don't contrast nearly as much as this. Rock has made the sub-genres to account for it's own internal differences, and they are properly used for the most part. The situation with dubstep right now is very different.

Good points, but I hate people who think they know everything about dubstep because they listen to 'skrillex'. Don't get me wrong I like his music but it is not dubstep, more of a mix of house and electro with a few wubs here and there. Proper artist are; Datsik, Flux pavillion and rusko, and many more. Jakawob is pretty sick but most of his mix's are just wubs and wobs.

Actually besides the fact that the sounds are a lot heavier, there is no difference.
There is a 140 bpm beat that you can nod your head to.
There is and intro
There is a drop
Skream does have wobbles, if you listen close enough, there definetly not as heavy as skrillex, but they are still wobbles.

I can pretty much agree, although skrillex does have dubstep songs. But that was my point, he was experimenting, and it changed dubstep.
