This is my first time js. I have taken it apart and applied new thermal compound after I cleaned the old stuff off. Then I turned it on and waited for my three flashing lights to turn to 2 flashing lights. Then I put a fan on it and cooled it down for about 20min. I turned it on still have the rrod what am I doing wrong!!!

I'm assuming that you removed both heatsinks to replace your thermal compound, best advice is to make sure the heatsinks are seated properly and are in the correct position, I have seen this a few times and it was usually due to the heatsinks not being set flush with the CPU and the GPU

Forgot to mention in my last post, x clamp mod is good...however to be cost effective and get the same results if not better results I would recommend a repair kit that include bolts and washers that allow you to bolt it to the motherboard, its a bit more difficult but the longevity is outstanding, surprised my cousin with a nice refurb I did and gave it to her a few months back, still running strong, let me know if you need any help and I can set you on your way
