I've been doing photoshop for about a year now, off and on.
Most of these look better on a dark grey background, the one that says mooze has white text around it for example.

CS3 works, just position the text however you like it, i used avantgarde lt medium for the font of the bottom text (can't remember the font of the RC text), then to color it i double clicked the layer in layer pallete beside the layer name (not on it, you don't want to rename it, just like right beside it) and i did color overlay for the green and white, and for the gradient of the RC i used gradient overlay. It seems complex but it's reeeeaaaaalllllyyyy simple.

To make the reflection you just duplicated the bottom layer of text > right click > rasterize type, and then do edit > transform > flip vertical, and erase over the bottom of the text then lower the opacity.

For the black shadow around it i used the layer styles again and added a black outerglow on the blending mode normal.

I took this and added effects to it, with C4D's and the smudge tool.

An example of an abstract C4D is
