Ive tries other ways as well and i can get to the tenth prestige in split screen but it never carries over to multiplayer

Before the MW2 patch came out, this glitch used to take advantage that, when you first go to an Xbox Live lobby, it caches your Xbox Live rank on your system-side. You could then back out, use modded mpdata to overflow (MU) and then switch to boosted mpdata (HDD). This boosted mpdata would essentially take the place of your cached Xbox Live rank, so when you went back into Xbox Live, you would then advance from 9th Prestige, Lvl 70 to 10th Prestige, Lvl 1 and the server-side would accept that promotion.

The difference with the patch is, now every time you go into Xbox Live, it re-fetches your rank from the server-side, preventing any boosted mpdata from living in cache.

It's very unlikely that you'll be able to use this method or anything similar, without addressing the problem of the rank re-fetch they've added.
