There are several ways. I'm sure there's an algorithm or something that alerts the moderators if you suddenly start getting nothing but headshots, or a stupid high amount of X-type kills. From there, they have access to watch all of your games in theater. Plus, if someone sees you boosting and notifies them themselves, it is even easier to be caught and banned.

I'd not risk it.

I would never boost unless the game has been out for at least 3 months, so as they are not as "On Guard".
