if you put in a HDD with any newer dash then u have then it updates your console, i think it gives the option to update or not to, its been awhile since i have had this happen

cause when i had my old hard drive i done it wrong and ended up with the first dashboard so will it still be the old one or what plus my xbox is banned

Not trying to be rude...but your question doesn't make a lot of sense.

What do you mean you are going to get a dashboard from your friends box? Do you mean you are going to get your friend's Xbox and JTAG it and wondering what dashboard it will have? If that's the case...if its exploitable, it will have whatever FB version you use.

Or do you mean you are going to get a HDD from your friend and put it on your current box? If that's what you mean, your dashboard version is tied to the box...not the HDD. Whatever dashboard your box is currently on, will still be on regardless if you switch HDDs.

Again...not trying to be rude, but can't make out what you are trying to ask. Some clarification might help.
