I have this account on my xbox which has a nice name that I would like to transfer to my main.

Is there any way to only pay for microsoft points for one account or do I have to pay for both accounts to change my gamertag? I saw somewhere online you can use Zune to temporarily make a gamertag available so that you can take it but I don't know for sure.

you have to change both gamertags to get the one you want, meaning yes you have to pay for both. xbox does not delete accounts anymore

You dont have to pay for both gamertags to be changed but idk about zune....
