Let me start off by saying this..

This bill is scary, it goes directly against our constitution and it would censor the internet (Sites like TTG would be at risk).

We can face it, there is a lot of piracy on the web (games, movies, TV Shows), this is of course not good for the industries who actually make these things, sucks for them, but what can anyone do about it. Needless to say this bill is totally unnecessary and would basically destroy the purpose of the internet.

Please read the quote.

PROTECT-IP is a bill that has been introduced in the Senate and the House and is moving quickly through Congress. It gives the government and corporations the ability to censor the net, in the name of protecting "creativity". The law would let the government or corporations censor entire sites-- they just have to convince a judge that the site is "dedicated to copyright infringement."

The government has already wrongly shut down sites without any recourse to the site owner. Under this bill, sharing a video with anything copyrighted in it, or what sites like Youtube and Twitter do, would be considered illegal behavior according to this bill.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, this bill would cost us $47 million tax dollars a year that's for a fix that won't work, disrupts the internet, stifles innovation, shuts out diverse voices, and censors the internet. This bill is bad for creativity and does not protect your rights.

So watch [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and sign the petition if you do not agree with this bill.

And to all the people saying "haha America sucks, they are gonna get censored." This would effect not just the US, but everyone that uses these sites (youtube, TTG, FaceBook, tumblr, etc etc etc)

Thanks for reading.

i dont think it would have any affect on other countries. since they cant censor censor websites for other countries. e.g america censoring a website so australians cant view it or something along those lines

The companies sue the hosting site = The hosting site gets taken down.

It would have an effect internationally.

When you get superkeen torrent site owners like the ones that own demonoi d
Their site been shut down and attack lots of times but they simple set up a sister site OR MOVE COuNTRYS
So the site has a different country domain
This bill will 'help stop' thing like this but I a say that it will most certainly not stop sites like this getting wiped out
