Will mostly be doing GFX, editing, and school work. Not too big on gaming on a computer.
Was thinking a MacBook Pro 15", maybe 17"?

Do not get a MacBook. They are the most overpriced laptops out. Just compare these two.

Almost the same specs, but the MacBook is $600 more. Now you won't necessarily need a Zenbook for what you want to use your computer for, but its a hell of a lot better then buying a MacBook.

Alienware is also really overpriced. And he said he's not into PC gaming.

WHY anything Apple? Is it necessary? With that much money you could build a gaming computer even though for what you need it it's not at all necessary. A laptop from Walmart would do you fine. Keep a lookout for Black Friday deals and you can get one for 300 dollars under that will suit your needs.

1. The Asus you posted on have a 1.7ghz i5 processor. 2. The MacBook has a 2.4ghz processor AND an i7. The difference between that and a MacBook is that the MacBook is better.
